Azerbaijan, IOM discuss expanded cooperation on migration management PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s State Migration Service has held discussions with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) on strengthening cooperation in migration governance and expanding joint initiatives, officials said.
The meeting took place between Chief of the State Migration Service, Second-Rank State Migration Service Counsellor Vusal Huseynov, and Mohammed Abdiker, Chief of Staff of the IOM, who is currently visiting Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

According to the State Migration Service, Huseynov highlighted what he described as effective cooperation already established between the two sides. He provided an overview of ongoing and completed projects aimed at improving migration management and introducing innovative approaches, including the Highly Qualified Migrant Portal.
He also underscored Azerbaijan’s participation in the Second International Migration Review Forum and referenced joint panel discussions organised with the IOM during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum.
For his part, Abdiker stressed the importance of continued collaboration in the field of migration, noting the need to further strengthen existing ties between the organisation and Azerbaijan.
Both sides exchanged views on the outcomes of current cooperation and discussed potential areas for future joint work, including the expansion of institutional and technical engagement in migration-related initiatives.
