Azerbaijan, Iran agree to develop transport roadmap

24 February 2026 18:03

Azerbaijan and Iran have agreed to prepare a joint roadmap to enhance cooperation in the transport sector.

Rashad Nabiyev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport, announced the agreement on Facebook following a meeting with Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, Caliber.Az reports.

The ministers discussed ways to increase freight volumes via road and rail and to further develop transport infrastructure. “We have agreed to prepare a roadmap in this direction,” Nabiyev wrote.

They also exchanged views on expanding regional connectivity through transport corridors in a multilateral format, signalling a shared commitment to closer economic and logistical ties between the two countries.
