The 17th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Iran State Commission on economic, trade, and humanitarian cooperation is taking place in Baku, centring on the Rasht–Astara railway project.

The session is co-chaired by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh, with authorised representatives from relevant agencies of both countries in attendance, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The agenda includes reviewing the current status of joint projects in the fields of economy, transport, and energy.

Special focus will be on the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway, as part of fully realising the potential of the International North–South Transport Corridor, as well as cooperation on the Khudafarin and Giz Giz Galasi hydropower plants and the Ordubad-Marazad hydropower plant, considered priority projects for both countries.

The parties are also expected to discuss the commissioning timeline of the Aghband-Kalaleh bridge after its completion.
