08 January 2026 18:23

Azerbaijan and Israel have discussed priority areas for expanding bilateral cooperation in digital development, transport and innovation, according to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

The discussions took place during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Samir Mammadov, and Israel’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Ronen Krausz, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry.

Key areas of potential partnership highlighted during the meeting included urban mobility, the digitalisation of transport systems, the application of artificial intelligence, the development of innovative entrepreneurship and start-ups, cybersecurity support mechanisms, and the strengthening of human capital through modern digital skills and expertise.

The two sides also reviewed the progress and future prospects of agreements reached at the 4th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Israel Joint Commission, held on November 20, 2025.

In addition, officials shared updates on joint initiatives, including the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Centre, established in cooperation with Israel’s Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and the Vistar Centre of Excellence. The latter was launched in December last year in partnership with the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development, Azercosmos, and Israel Aerospace Industries.
