Azerbaijan and Italy have discussed energy security, investment opportunities and the expansion of bilateral cooperation during a meeting between SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and Giulio Tremonti, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and European Union Affairs Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, SOCAR said.

The discussions focused on the growing strategic partnership between the two countries in the energy sector, with both sides highlighting the steady development of long-term cooperation and its expansion into new areas, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Particular attention was given to SOCAR's acquisition of a stake in Italiana Petroli from API Holding. The parties noted that the transaction is expected to further strengthen economic ties and contribute to the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Italy.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on a range of other issues of mutual interest, according to SOCAR.
