Azerbaijan joins China’s food security initiative
Azerbaijan has officially joined the China-initiated platform for cooperation on food security within the framework of the Belt and Road Project, the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AFSA) said.
The two-day Conference on Cooperation in Food Security for Import and Export among Belt and Road member states has opened in Shanghai, organised by China’s General Administration of Customs, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The event, attended by delegations from 50 countries, features AFSA Chief of Staff Mammadrahim Najafov and Chairman’s Advisor Elkhan Mikayilov.
As part of the conference, participants signed the document titled “Terms of Operation of the Cooperation Mechanism on Food Security in Import and Export,” creating new opportunities to expand collaboration.
The document aims to strengthen cooperation, exchange experience in management and regulation, improve international standards, and jointly address risks related to food security.
The initiative establishes a cooperation platform among Belt and Road countries based on mutual trust and benefit, promoting information exchange, joint emergency response, and the development of safe food trade.
