Azerbaijan joins UN Convention against Cybercrime at Hanoi ceremony
On October 25–26, a solemn signing ceremony of the UN Convention against Cybercrime took place in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
The event was attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of Vietnam Luong Cuong, heads of delegations from various countries, representatives of international organisations, and experts, Caliber.Az reports.
Under a relevant decree issued by President Ilham Aliyev, the convention was signed on behalf of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Colonel General Ali Naghiyev, Chief of the State Security Service.
Azerbaijan’s early signing of the convention underscores the country’s contribution to international cooperation in combating cybercrime and ensuring the security of the global cyberspace.
The key objectives outlined in the international document include establishing legal cooperation among states to combat cybercrime and the misuse of information and communication technologies, as well as developing international mechanisms for the collection and exchange of electronic evidence.
In total, 72 countries signed the convention during the ceremony.
