Azerbaijan, Jordan preparing transport, ICT deals, ambassador says

Azerbaijan and Jordan have made significant progress in strengthening air connectivity and expanding tourism cooperation and are preparing to sign agreements in the fields of transport and information and communication technologies (ICT), Jordanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Omar Al-Nahar has said.

Talking to local media, he noted that both sides have already done considerable work to strengthen air links and tourism cooperation between Jordan and Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports.

“Although it is not possible at this stage to specify exact timelines for increasing flight frequency, direct charter flights currently operate once a week between the two countries during the summer season," he added.

The ambassador further stated that the relevant ministries of both countries, in coordination with their embassies, continue efforts to organize reciprocal visits by official delegations.

According to Al-Nahar, these efforts will contribute to greater participation by the private sector and help expand bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

Speaking about the legal framework governing bilateral relations, the ambassador said consultations are currently underway on several new agreements.

"While the relevant consultations are still ongoing, the areas under consideration include, among others, transport, information and communication technologies (ICT), and cooperation in the media sphere," Al-Nahar stressed.

On July 8, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi paid an official visit to Azerbaijan.

During the visit, Azerbaijan and Jordan signed an agreement abolishing visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports, as well as a memorandum of understanding between the governments of the two countries in the field of energy cooperation.
