Azerbaijan and Kenya have discussed cooperation in the energy sector as part of a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev and Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum, James Opiyo Wandayi.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of bilateral relations, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Wandayi said during the bilateral meeting between Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, held on the sidelines of WUF13, particular attention was paid to cooperation in the energy sector.
He noted that Azerbaijan’s extensive long-term experience in the exploration and development of energy resources could contribute to the efficient use of Kenya’s energy resources, workforce training, and the attraction of foreign investment.
The ambassador stressed the importance of implementing the memorandum of cooperation in the energy sector signed last year between the relevant authorities of the two countries, noting that the Kenyan president also met with the president of SOCAR during his visit to Baku.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue contacts between the relevant institutions of both countries.
