For the first time, Azerbaijan showcased its tourism potential at the Indonesia Travel Expo 2026 (ITE), which opened on April 6 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The event included business meetings aimed at establishing connections with local travel agencies, expanding cooperation, and exploring new business opportunities, Caliber.Az, citing the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan.
Participants were introduced to Azerbaijan as an attractive tourist destination, along with its latest tourism products and services.
The State Tourism Agency highlighted the significance of Azerbaijan’s participation in promoting opportunities under the Umrah Plus program, designed for travel to holy sites.
“In this context, the country’s rich Islamic heritage, historic mosques, cultural attractions, halal food offerings, natural landscapes and modern tourism infrastructure were highlighted,” the agency said.
The exhibition will continue in Surabaya on April 9.
Additionally, the Azerbaijani Tourism Bureau hosted a webinar for around 20 leading Malaysian travel agencies specialising in Umrah pilgrimages, presenting Azerbaijan as a desirable destination within the Umrah Plus program.
