Azerbaijan may deliver gas to Türkiye, Europe At next stage of Absheron field development
Director General of TotalEnergies-Azerbaijan Emmanuel De-Guillebon has said that natural gas can be supplied to the Turkish and European markets at the next stage of the Absheron field development in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
De-Guillebon made these remarks at the 10th Caspian Technical Conference in Baku, Report informs.
He noted that the gas which is produced at the field is sold on the domestic market, but taking into account that volumes will increase at the next stage of the project, the Turkish and European markets are being considered for export.
“The issue is being discussed whether gas will be supplied by using the current capabilities of the existing infrastructure or whether its expansion will be required,” De-Guillebon said.
An agreement was signed among the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), the French TotalEnergies company and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to sell a 30 per cent stake in the Absheron gas condensate field in August 2023. After the purchase, ADNOC will receive a 30 per cent share in the Absheron gas condensate field, while the share of SOCAR and TotalEnergies will be 35 per cent, respectively.
