A delegation of Azerbaijani lawmakers has held talks with senior Mexican officials aimed at strengthening political and parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
Members of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) – Samad Seyidov, Jala Aliyeva and Sevinj Fataliyeva – met Kenia López Rabadán, President of Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies, during a working visit to Mexico, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani delegation welcomed the creation of the Mexico–Azerbaijan Friendship Group, describing it as an important step towards expanding bilateral engagement. The MPs said parliamentary diplomacy could help deepen mutual understanding between the two nations, support political dialogue and create new opportunities for cooperation.
The Azerbaijani representatives also briefed their Mexican counterparts on developments in the South Caucasus following the conflict in the region. They outlined steps taken by Baku to promote stability and peace, as well as broader regional and international security issues.
The talks also touched on a meeting held in Washington in August 2025, which Azerbaijani officials described as significant for advancing discussions on sustainable peace.
Ms López Rabadán highlighted the importance of the visit in strengthening inter-parliamentary relations and expressed support for the newly formed friendship group. She also wished the initiative success in fostering closer ties between the two countries.
