On November 6, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with a visiting NATO delegation to discuss regional security and the prospects for lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the Foreign Ministry said.
The delegation included permanent representatives to NATO from Türkiye, Greece, Hungary, Montenegro, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Portugal and Spain, as well as deputy permanent representatives from the United States and France.
Talks focused on the main areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO, regional and international security issues, and the current state of the peace process between Baku and Yerevan.
Bayramov briefed the NATO envoys on the history of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, the security situation in the post-conflict period, the continuing threat from landmines, and the understandings reached at the Washington Summit earlier this year.
He also outlined Azerbaijan’s vision for regional peace and plans concerning new transport corridors.
The sides exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest, the ministry added.
