Azerbaijan, Netherlands address regional peace, climate finance at key meeting
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Dutch Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcel de Vink, who is on an official visit to the country, to discuss bilateral cooperation.
The discussions focused on the current regional situation, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The sides expressed optimism about the potential for enhancing Azerbaijani-Dutch relations and emphasized the importance of continued political consultations and mutual visits to remove obstacles hindering the development of ties.
Foreign Minister Bayramov provided a comprehensive overview of Azerbaijan’s leadership role at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. He highlighted Azerbaijan's significant achievements at COP29, noting that, despite facing challenges and double standards from certain countries, Azerbaijan succeeded in driving key decisions, particularly regarding climate finance.
Bayramov also briefed the Dutch vice foreign minister on the current regional situation in the post-conflict period, including Azerbaijan's efforts toward normalizing relations with Armenia. He discussed the ongoing work on border delimitation and the ongoing challenges that continue to impede the advancement of the peace agenda in the region.
The FM expressed his disappointment with the ongoing double standards faced by Azerbaijan, stressing that such actions do not foster peace and stability in the region.
In addition to the meeting between the two officials, political consultations were also held between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and the Netherlands on the same day.
