Azerbaijan pledges 40% increase in gas supplies to EU

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has said that Azerbaijan will increase gas supplies to the Europen Union by 40 per cent year on year.

The minister made the remarks at the International Gas Conference in Romania on September 22, according to Trend.

“If last year the volume of [gas] deliveries made up 8.2 billion cubic metres, then this year the deliveries will increase by 40 per cent and reach nearly 11.5 billion cubic metres. This means that we are doing everything possible to ensure the transportation of natural gas to the European energy market in large volumes, given the sensitivity of energy security in Europe [and] being aware of all the problems with energy supply here,” he said.
