Azerbaijan proposes creation of joint technological platform within Turkic states
Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has announced Azerbaijan’s proposal to establish a joint technological platform aimed at enhancing industrial cooperation among member countries of Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
Speaking at the 2nd Meeting of Ministers of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation of the OTS, Jabbarov noted that the initiative would bring together major industrial companies, manufacturing enterprises, research centers, and startup ecosystems from OTS member states, Caliber.Az reports.
The platform is expected to serve as a foundation for sustainable industrial growth and innovation across the region.
He emphasised the importance of engaging the private sector more actively in regional economic cooperation, noting that businesses should act as the main driving force behind new ideas, technologies, and investments. Jabbarov also highlighted the need to strengthen cross-border collaboration not only among state institutions but also between companies, industry associations, and technology platforms.
The minister additionally proposed the creation of a new cooperation platform dedicated to startups and innovation among Turkic-speaking countries. This initiative would coordinate joint efforts in innovation, startups, and the digital economy, while facilitating knowledge and technology exchange between member states. Jabbarov said the platform would accelerate innovation-driven growth and open new opportunities for young entrepreneurs across the region.
He also pointed to Azerbaijan’s Sabah.hub innovation center as an example of national efforts in this direction. The center unites young professionals, startups, and investors, supporting projects from idea to commercialisation. Through its Sabah Venture Fund, the hub invests in local innovative ventures, underscoring Azerbaijan’s commitment to making innovation a key pillar of its economic policy.
Within the framework of the event, Jabbarov also held a meeting with Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of OTS.
According to Jabbarov's post on X, the discussions focused on strengthening the organisation’s role on the global stage and expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and other OTS member countries. The talks also addressed the development of joint initiatives in key areas such as modern technology application, innovative solutions, and the advancement of transport, logistics, and transit connectivity among member states.
