Azerbaijan records growth in maritime cargo shipment

The volume of goods shipped by sea in Azerbaijan rose by 40.9 per cent from January through October 2022, compared to the same period last year, and topped 6.3 million tonnes.

Around 42 per cent of the overall maritime cargo movement fell on oil products, APA reports, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.

“Over 9.7 million tonnes of cargo were loaded and unloaded by seaports, and roughly 8.97 million tonnes or 92.3 per cent of cargo were transited,” the report says.

A total of 335,000 tonnes of goods remained in the ports, as of November 1.

“The number of passengers transported by sea during the reporting period increased by 24.6 per cent compared to the same period of 2021 and amounted to 17,700 people,” the report adds.
