Azerbaijan, Romania discuss gas routes
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has said that Azerbaijan and Romania discussed the issues related to the supply and transportation of natural gas along various routes.
Discussions were held at a meeting between SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and Romanian Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja in Baku, Report informs citing SOCAR.
The sides noted the successful development of energy relations between Azerbaijan and Romania and emphasised the importance of work to expand the Southern Gas Corridor.
In this regard, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the development of cooperation between SOCAR and gas transmission system operators Transgaz (Romania), Bulgartransgaz (Bulgaria), FGSZ (Hungary) and Eustream (Slovakia) in Sofia in 2023 was an important step towards the implementation of the Solidarity Ring Initiative.
The sides exchanged views on SOCAR’s activity in the Romanian market, energy transition, digitalisation and other issues of mutual interest.
