Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran to form joint working group on road transport
Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran have agreed to establish a trilateral working group focused on road transportation, according to the final communiqué of a recent meeting of government representatives, domestic media notes.
The new working group will include officials from the customs, border, and transport authorities of all three countries. Its creation aims to enhance cooperation and coordination in the field of international road transport.
The communiqué highlighted the need to boost the volume of cargo transported along the North-South international transport corridor to 15 million tons and to ensure continuous growth in cargo flows. The three countries agreed to prepare an Action Plan within three months to implement the planned measures.
The meeting also emphasised the creation of a dedicated working group on road transportation, again comprising representatives from customs, border, and transport departments of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran.
Participants expressed satisfaction over the signing of an agreement establishing a trilateral working group on cooperation among customs authorities, which is expected to facilitate transit transportation between Azerbaijan, Iran, and Russia.
