Azerbaijan’s Central Bank, microfinance sector discuss future development
The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) has held talks with representatives of the country’s microfinance sector on ways to strengthen financial access and expand lending opportunities.
On August 19, CBA director general Fuad Isayev met with the head of the Azerbaijan Micro-finance Association and the heads of member organisations, Caliber.Az reports per CBA.
The discussions reviewed the performance of non-bank credit institutions in the first half of 2025, highlighting achievements to date as well as challenges and future prospects.
According to the CBA, the meeting addressed the potential use of new financial instruments and closer cooperation with state funds to improve access to alternative financing sources.
Officials also discussed opportunities for expanding operations in territories recently returned to Azerbaijan’s control, the importance of supporting the real sector, and strengthening institutional capacity.
Both sides outlined proposals and agreed on joint steps to be taken in the coming months.
