Azerbaijan’s deputy minister reports 65% completion of Lachin airport construction
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov has said construction works on the Lachin airport are 65 per cent complete.
He made the remarks in Khankendi at the regular meeting of the working group on transport, communications and high technologies under the Interdepartmental Centre of the Coordination Headquarters established for centralised resolution of issues in the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, Report informs.
According to him, in accordance with the First State Program for the Great Return to the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, strategic projects such as the restoration and construction of roads and railways, new airports, and telecommunication networks continue to be implemented in these territories.
The construction of the Lachin International Airport, the foundation of which was laid in 2021, is planned to be completed in 2025. The airport's runway will be 3,000 meters long and 60 meters wide. The airport is being built near the village of Gorchu at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level. It will become one of the highest airports in the post-Soviet space.
On May 14, a regular meeting of the Working Group on Transport, Communications and High Technologies under the Interdepartmental Centre of the Coordination Headquarters established for centralised resolution of issues in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation was held in Khankendi.
At the meeting, information from relevant structures was heard on the work done in the field of infrastructure within the framework of the the First State Program for the Great Return to the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, projects and plans for the future, and the current situation on the implementation of projects was discussed.
Decisions were also taken on joint measures with relevant structures for the timely implementation of measures envisaged by the State Programme in this field.
