Azerbaijan's economy minister discusses enhancing trade relations with Israeli officials
Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov is currently on a working visit to Israel, where he met with top Israeli officials to discuss enhancing bilateral economic and trade ties.
Jabbarov held discussions with Israeli Finance Minister Zeev Elkin and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar to advance the strategic partnership between the two nations, Caliber.Az reports.
In a post on X, Jabbarov shared details of his meeting with Elkin, the co-chairman of the Azerbaijan-Israel Joint Intergovernmental Commission: “During our working visit to Israel, we met with Zeev Elkin, Minister at the Ministry of Finance and co-chairman of the Azerbaijan – Israel Joint Intergovernmental Commission. We exchanged views on promoting bilateral business and trade relations and discussed measures to enhance the Commission's efficiency.”
During a separate meeting with Foreign Minister Sa'ar, Jabbarov underscored the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Israel: “Within the framework of our visit to Israel, we held a meeting with Gideon Sa'ar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country. We exchanged views on the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Israel, discussed various aspects of our bilateral relations, and explored prospects for enhancing economic and trade cooperation,” Elkin added.
For the record, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, and SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf visited Israel for a ceremony where new exploration licenses were presented for Block 1 in Israel's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The licenses are seen as pivotal for strengthening SOCAR's international position and utilizing innovative experiences in energy development.
Jabbarov highlighted that the newly granted licenses for Block 1 offer significant advantages for SOCAR, enhancing its international standing and contributing to the long-term development of energy resources in the region.
Minister Jabbarov shared details of the event on his X page, emphasising the strategic value of this partnership in strengthening Azerbaijan's energy influence and leveraging innovative technologies.
During the visit, Jabbarov also met with Israel’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Eli Cohen, to discuss ways to enhance energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel. The meeting focused on exploring joint initiatives and projects aimed at bolstering economic ties and advancing energy relations between the two countries.
