Azerbaijan's energy operator to build small hydropower plant in Kalbajar

Azerbaijan’s energy operator Azerenerji has contracted BCC Group CJSC to undertake the construction of the small hydropower plant "Çaykənd-2" in the Kalbajar district.

The contract with BCC Group is valued at 16.763 million manats ($9.86 million), Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Prior to this, in 2023, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the reconstructed “Meydan” Small Hydroelectric Power Station in Kalbajar district.

The 3.4 MW station, previously destroyed by Armenians, was rebuilt by Azerenerji with modern digital standards, including the installation of a SCADA control system and integration into the national power grid.

The station now has a capacity of producing 10 million kWh annually.
