15 August 2026 13:25

Trade between Azerbaijan and China reached approximately $2.22 billion in the first half of 2026, increasing 6.4% compared with the same period a year earlier, according to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee data cited by Caliber.Az.

Bilateral trade accounted for 9.01% of Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade turnover in January–June 2026, keeping China in fourth place among the country’s largest trading partners. China held the same position during the first half of 2025, when it accounted for 8.56% of Azerbaijan’s total trade.

Azerbaijani exports to China increased by 24.6% year-on-year to $57.65 million. Despite the growth, exports to China represented just 0.35% of Azerbaijan’s total exports, compared with 0.36% in the same period of 2025.

Imports from China, meanwhile, rose 6% to approximately $2.16 billion. Chinese goods accounted for 25.96% of Azerbaijan’s total imports, up from 17.73% a year earlier.
