Azerbaijan’s exports to China surge over 40% in early 2026
Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China totalled $1.83 billion in January–May 2026, marking a 4% increase compared with the same period last year, according to data from Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee cited by Caliber.Az.
China accounted for 8.81% of Azerbaijan’s total trade during the period, maintaining its position as the country’s fourth-largest trading partner, up from 8.4% a year earlier.
Azerbaijani exports to China rose sharply, increasing by 40.5% year-on-year to $48.75 million. Despite the growth, exports represented a relatively small share of total outbound trade at 0.35%, compared with 0.32% in the corresponding period of 2025.
Imports from China, by contrast, grew more modestly, rising 3.3% to $1.78 billion. China’s share in Azerbaijan’s total imports climbed to 26.15%, up from 17.32% a year earlier, underscoring its significant role as a supplier.
