Azerbaijan's Independence Day celebrated with grandeur in Strasbourg PHOTO
The Permanent Representation of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg held a solemn event to mark May 28 – Azerbaijan's Independence Day.
The celebration, attended by Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić and other officials, along with diplomats and members of the Azerbaijani and local communities, began with the Azerbaijani national anthem performed by pianist Eldaniz Alakbarzada, AZERTAC reports.
Ambassador Fakhraddin Ismayilov, Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, opened the event by highlighting the history of Azerbaijan's independence and the nation's continued struggle for freedom. He noted the significant achievements under President Ilham Aliyev's leadership, including the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and its growing international authority, as demonstrated by its election to chair the COP29 conference.
Marija Pejčinović Burić expressed her congratulations to the Azerbaijani people, celebrating their Independence Day and recalling Azerbaijan's active participation as a member of the Council of Europe since 2001.
A video presentation on the upcoming COP29 conference in Baku concluded the official part of the event, which was followed by a musical program featuring works by Azerbaijani composers performed by Alakbarzada.
