03 February 2023 12:41

A meeting with the delegation led by the head of the Turkish-Azerbaijani inter-parliamentary friendship group Shamil Ayrym was held at the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan. Ahliman Amiraslanov, head of the Milli Majlis working group on Azerbaijani-Turkish inter-parliamentary ties, also attended the meeting.

While greeting the guests, Health Minister Teymur Musayev emphasized that the two peoples are united by deep historical roots, and spiritual and cultural values, the ministry's press service told Caliber.Az.

"Türkiye and Azerbaijan have supported each other in the most difficult periods in their history. The moral and political support of Türkiye from the very beginning of the 44-day war is a vivid example of that. Friendly and sincere relations between the heads of state serve to further deepen our cooperation in all areas, including in the field of healthcare," he said.

In his speech, the minister also paid tribute to the training of highly qualified medical personnel in Azerbaijan who work in medical centres of the brotherly country. "I would also like to emphasize the support of our Turkish colleagues during the Patriotic War. In addition, we cooperated closely during the most difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic. The valuable advice of Turkish specialists contributed to the stabilisation of the epidemiological situation in Azerbaijan".

Teymur Musayev also said that in recent years there has been effective cooperation between the Ministries of Health of the two countries: "Last May a delegation of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan paid a working visit to brotherly Türkiye. In the course of the visit, we held very fruitful discussions with Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca and got acquainted with the activity of leading medical institutions of the brotherly country. In addition, a Roadmap for Cooperation between the Health Ministries of our countries for 2022-2023 was signed during the visit. I believe that the signed document will play an important role in the development of the health sector of Türkiye and Azerbaijan."

The minister brought to attention that 2023 was declared the Year of Heydar Aliyev by the relevant decree of President Ilham Aliyev. "National leader Heydar Aliyev has always paid attention and care to Azerbaijani science and education, its employees, in particular in the health sector. The development of public health and the training of medical personnel in our country is connected with the name of a great leader. The Ministry of Health organizes a number of events and international scientific conferences on the 100th anniversary of the great personality who left his indelible mark in the modern history of Azerbaijan. Participation of well-known Turkish medicine specialists in these events is very important for us".

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception the head of the Turkish-Azerbaijani inter-parliamentary friendship group noted bilateral friendly and brotherly relations between our countries successfully develop in all spheres. According to him, an Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood based on a solid foundation is a bright indicator of our unity and solidarity.

Shamil Ayrim also noted that events would be held on the 100th anniversary of the great son of the Turkic world Heydar Aliyev not only in Azerbaijan but also in Türkiye.

During the discussions, the sides expressed confidence that friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye would continue to be strengthened and expanded in all areas, including in the healthcare sector.
