Azerbaijan sees 39% decline in electric vehicle imports in January–May
Azerbaijan's imports of electric vehicles (EVs) fell sharply during the first five months of 2026, reflecting weaker demand and a decline in the total value of purchases.
The country imported 468 electric vehicles worth $12.35 million between January and May, according to data released by the State Statistics Committee and cited by local media.
The figures represent a 39% year-on-year decline in the number of vehicles imported and a 52% drop in the total value of imports compared with the same period in 2025.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan sourced electric vehicles from China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Mexico, and several other countries.
The data also showed that Poland supplied electric vehicles to Azerbaijan for the first time in 16 years, with one vehicle imported at a value of $36,400.
