Azerbaijan sees 40.1% increase in airborne tourists, led by Russian visitors
From January to May 2024, 347,326 Russian tourists visited Azerbaijan by air, a 33.4% increase compared to the same period last year, reports Caliber.Az, citing the State Agency for Tourism (SAT).
Turkey ranked second with 287,331 tourists, a 23.2% increase, followed by the UAE, from where 173,628 tourists arrived, marking a 47.9% rise over January- May 2023.
The number of tourists from other countries in descending order is as follows: Georgia - 86,171; India - 40,076; Saudi Arabia - 39,495; Kazakhstan - 36,064; Uzbekistan - 22,320; Italy - 22,021; Qatar - 20,800.
In total, 1,227,238 tourists from 31 countries visited Azerbaijan by air transport in the first five months of this year, a 40.1% increase compared to the corresponding period in 2023.
