Azerbaijan sees sharp rise in non-oil industrial production, exceeding 7%

Azerbaijan’s non-oil industrial production increased by 7.2% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, while overall industrial output saw only marginal growth.

In January–March 2026, industrial enterprises and private entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan produced goods worth 14.87 billion manats, representing a 0.2% increase compared to the same period in 2025, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s State Statistical Committee.

Compared to January–March 2025, production in the oil and gas sector declined by 1%, amounting to 9.73 billion manats, while non-oil sector output rose by 7.2% to 5.14 billion manats.

The structure of industrial production showed that 58.7% came from the mining sector (a decline of 0.7%), 33.5% from manufacturing (an increase of 6.2%), 6.9% from electricity, gas and steam supply (a decrease of 3.5%), and 0.9% from water supply, waste treatment and recycling (a decrease of 3.1%).

Within manufacturing, the strongest growth was recorded in vehicle production, which increased 2.4 times. Significant gains were also seen in pharmaceuticals (+45.4%), machinery installation and repair (+42.5%), electrical equipment (+33.9%), textiles (+33.3%), tobacco products (+23.2%), printing products (+21.8%), paper and cardboard (+14.8%), construction materials (+12.4%), food products (+10%), clothing (+9.4%), metallurgy products (+7.6%), and beverages (+1.3%).

At the same time, declines were recorded in rubber and plastic products (-1.5%), petroleum products (-2.9%), leather, leather goods and footwear (-4.5%), chemical products (-13.1%), fabricated metal products (-16.8%), wood processing and wooden products (-27.5%), computer, electronic and optical products (-29.6%), and machinery and equipment (-49.7%).

Furniture production remained unchanged compared to the first quarter of the previous year.
