Azerbaijan sets launch date for Zabukhchay reservoir
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Baku Water Week International Conference, Zaur Mikayilov, chairman of Azerbaijan's State Water Resources Agency, said the reservoir in Zabukh village, Lachin district, is expected to be operational by the middle of this year.
"It is planned to rehabilitate about 20 canals in Azerbaijan. At the moment, six of them are being rehabilitated, two of them will be started in the near future and another 12 are in the preparation stage," he said, per Report.
Mikayilov added that feasibility studies of other reservoirs are being carried out in parallel.
The Baku Water Week kicked off on March 12 for the first time in Azerbaijan.
The event was organized with the support of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency.
The purpose of organizing the Baku Water Week is to attract new technologies, equipment and investments to the country for the further development of this field in Azerbaijan, as well as to bolster the drinking water supply for the restoration and reconstruction of Karabakh, and to discuss important issues, new projects and cooperation in this regard.
About 100 companies from 16 countries participate in Baku Water Week. In addition to Azerbaijan, the countries represented by the participating companies include the US, UK, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Switzerland, Australia, Belarus, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Türkiye and Russia.
