Azerbaijan sharply boosts kerosene imports, Belgium remains key supplier

23 June 2026 20:47

Azerbaijan has significantly increased its imports of kerosene in the first four months of 2026, with volumes more than tripling year-on-year, the State Statistics Committee reported.

Between January and April, the country imported 2,239 tonnes of kerosene worth $3.6 million, marking a 3.3-fold increase in volume and a threefold rise in value compared with the same period in 2025, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The data shows that imports were heavily concentrated from Europe, with Belgium remaining the dominant supplier. Azerbaijan imported 1,309 tonnes of kerosene from Belgium worth $2.2 million, up 2.6 times in volume and three times in value year-on-year.

Imports from Iran rose sharply to 818 tonnes, compared with a much lower base a year earlier, while shipments from China declined to 58 tonnes, down 48% in volume. Supplies from South Korea also edged lower to 45 tonnes, while imports from the United States increased slightly to just under three tonnes.

Overall, Belgium accounted for the vast majority of Azerbaijan’s kerosene imports in 2025, representing 94.6% of a total 6,598 tonnes.
