Azerbaijan showcases sustainable banking initiatives at Global South forum in China PHOTO
Officials in China examined efforts to develop a sustainable financial ecosystem within Azerbaijan’s banking sector, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said.
Shahin Mahmudzada, Director General of the CBA, addressed the 2026 Global South Financiers Forum in Beijing, detailing the bank’s initiatives to strengthen the resilience of financial institutions and create a robust financial ecosystem, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Mahmudzada highlighted achievements under the “Sustainable Finance Roadmap: 2023–2026,” including the implementation of the Green Taxonomy, the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks into regulatory frameworks, and broader measures aimed at enhancing institutional stability.
Stressing the value of international cooperation, Mahmudzada also pointed to a collaborative initiative with global partners designed to harmonize and improve the comparability of global taxonomies, reinforcing Azerbaijan’s commitment to sustainable finance practices on an international scale.
