Azerbaijan signs agreement with Israeli company on desalination of Caspian Sea water

Azersu OJSC of the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan and Israel's Mekorot Water Company have signed an agreement on rendering technical consulting services within the framework of the seawater desalination project.

According to APA, the due information was disseminated by the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan.

Amir Lang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Israeli national water supply operator Mekorot Water Company, said that in his country 90 per cent of drinking water needs are met by the company he represents, and about 60 per cent of water is supplied to consumers through seawater desalination. Mekorot Water Company and its subsidiaries are currently cooperating with a number of countries around the world in seawater desalination and water management.
