Azerbaijan, Slovakia discuss energy cooperation
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, held a meeting with Slovakia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Denisa Saková.
The meeting emphasized the expansion of bilateral relations in key areas, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy.
Both sides highlighted the importance of mutual visits, events, meetings, and discussions in strengthening Azerbaijani-Slovak cooperation. The discussions underscored the vast opportunities for effective collaboration in trade, energy, investment, industry, humanitarian fields, and more.
The parties noted that Azerbaijan's role as an initiator and active participant in regional and global energy projects contributes significantly to the energy security of its partner countries. In this context, energy cooperation remains a top priority in relations with Slovakia.
The meeting also covered the current state and future prospects of economic cooperation, joint activities in the energy sector, and the development of collaboration in the pharmaceutical industry, including knowledge exchange. Additionally, discussions included preparations for the first meeting of the Azerbaijani-Slovak working group on economic cooperation and a business forum to be held in Baku.
As a significant energy producer, Azerbaijan plays a crucial role in supplying oil and gas to Europe. Slovakia, being part of the European Union, is interested in diversifying its energy sources, particularly through partnerships with Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan's involvement in regional and global energy projects, such as the Southern Gas Corridor, supports this objective. Energy cooperation is a priority in Azerbaijan-Slovakia relations.
