Azerbaijan, Slovakia eye direct flights to deepen economic ties, says minister

Azerbaijan and Slovakia are preparing to launch direct flights between Baku and Bratislava, a move expected to strengthen business ties and foster closer people-to-people contacts between the two countries, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has said.

Speaking at the Azerbaijan–Slovakia Business Forum, Jabbarov described the planned air link as an important step for expanding economic cooperation and enhancing connectivity, Caliber.Az reports.

"I would like to highlight one particularly important issue that is significant for businesses, governments, and the expansion of direct people-to-people contacts. We are eagerly and warmly looking forward to the imminent launch of direct flights between our capitals. I would like to thank everyone on both the Slovak and Azerbaijani sides who has contributed to making this possible," the minister said.

Jabbarov also pointed to the considerable potential for deepening trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, noting that the two countries have already established successful partnerships in several strategic sectors.

"Our countries already have a highly successful track record of cooperation in such areas as energy and humanitarian demining, which is being actively carried out on the liberated territories. I have already mentioned construction initiatives, and I am pleased to emphasize that this is far from the last project to be implemented in the liberated territories with the participation of Slovak architects and construction companies," he said.
