Azerbaijan, Slovakia to hold joint economic working group meeting

Azerbaijan and Slovakia have agreed to hold a meeting of their joint working group on economic cooperation this autumn, following the Azerbaijan-Slovakia Business Forum held in Baku on July 15, Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Denisa Sakova has announced.

During the forum, the two sides discussed the further development of trade relations, investment cooperation and preparations for new joint projects, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Sakova said Azerbaijan is one of Slovakia's important economic partners, identifying energy, infrastructure, logistics, digital industry and advanced technologies as particularly promising areas for bilateral cooperation.

"The strategic partnership between the two countries also creates opportunities for the further development of trade, investment and the implementation of joint projects," she noted.

According to Sakova, Slovakia considers energy security to be a key priority in its cooperation with Azerbaijan.

"Therefore, we are actively discussing solutions that will contribute to the diversification of natural gas supplies after 2027. At the same time, we seek to further develop economic cooperation with Azerbaijan and create new opportunities for Slovak companies," the minister stated.

The government press release noted that during her visit to Baku and participation in the business forum, Sakova held talks with Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov.

The main focus of the discussions was the possibility of diversifying natural gas supplies to Slovakia. The parties also discussed cooperation between energy companies aimed at finding practical solutions for future gas deliveries to Slovakia.
