Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency: COP29 – biggest event due to number of participants
Head of the Office of the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency Kanan Gasimov has said that all necessary measures are being taken to accommodate guests who will attend COP29.
Gasimov made these remarks at the event of the Tourism Development Working Group of the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings of the Republic of Azerbaijan dedicated to “Implementation of the Action Plan for 2023 and upcoming priorities” on May 8, Trend reports.
He noted that the COP29 event is the biggest one in terms of the number of participants.
“Azerbaijan began the preparation process after receiving the right to host this event and is making great efforts to host COP29 along with other events that it is hosting so far,” he stressed.
Gasimov expressed hope that no problems will arise in this regard.
To recap, Baku will host the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
A group of Eastern European countries has chosen Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to host COP29 climate talks next year.
Earlier, Bulgaria withdrew its candidacy to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in favour of Azerbaijan.
Moreover, Baku and Yerevan agreed to support each other at some international venues. In a joint statement, Armenia said it would support Azerbaijan's bid to host the COP29 summit.
The conference is being held in rotation by five UN regional groups, and Eastern Europe will take part next year.
