Azerbaijan steps into global energy regulation dialogue in Tbilisi

Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA), Samir Akhundov, is participating in the 9th World Forum on Energy Regulation (WFER IX), being held in Tbilisi from September 21 to 24.

The forum is organized by the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) under the auspices of the International Confederation of Energy Regulators (ICER), Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Held under the theme “When Balance is Achieved,” the forum has brought together heads and representatives of energy regulatory authorities, leading energy companies, regional associations and academic institutions from around the world.

The event aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and regulatory experience, address emerging challenges in the energy sector, explore innovative approaches and identify future priorities for energy regulation.

Discussions during the forum are focusing on a range of issues, including innovation and the energy transition, effective regulatory tools, fuel value-chain regulation, regional energy-market integration, regulatory frameworks for infrastructure investment and system flexibility, consumer protection, and the decarbonization of non-electrifiable energy demand.
