Azerbaijan strengthens cooperation with Africa ahead of urban forum
Sultan Hajiyev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kenya, participated in a briefing organized by the Kenyan government for the diplomatic corps accredited to the country, focusing on preparations for the 2nd Africa Urban Forum (AUF2), scheduled to take place in Nairobi from April 8 to 10.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Hajiyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s keenness to collaborate with African nations within the AUF2 framework, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He highlighted the country’s global contributions to climate-resilient urban development and affordable housing, as well as its extensive experience in post-conflict recovery, reconstruction, and humanitarian demining.
The ambassador also briefed participants on preparations for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), underscoring the importance of African participation in the summit.
He noted that Azerbaijan, which has successfully hosted the COP29 Conference, and other prestigious international events, has taken significant measures to host the WUF13 at a high level.
Other speakers at the briefing included Alice Wahome, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development.
