Azerbaijan to commission fertiliser terminal in Port of Baku in 2023
Head of the common cargo terminal of the Baku International Sea Trade Port company Kamran Jalili has said that the fertiliser terminal built on the territory of Azerbaijan’s Port of Baku will be put into operation in early 2023.
The terminal will handle 300 million tons of cargo per year and 600 tons per hour, Report informs citing Jalili.
"It will be possible to transship additional 6,000 tons of bulk cargo per hour," he noted.
Jalili said that it is planned to import sulfur, carbamide, ammonium nitrate fertilisers from Central Asia, namely, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, to the port.
An agreement on the construction of a fertiliser terminal was reached between the Baku International Sea Trade Port and the Turkish Albayrak Group on July 25, 2022. Albayrak will own a 49 per cent stake in the terminal upon the agreement.
