Azerbaijan to host Baku climate week in September

22 May 2026 14:36

Azerbaijan will host the next edition of Baku Climate Week from September 7 to 11 this year, according to Environment and Natural Resources Minister Rashad Ismayilov.

The announcement was made during a session at World Urban Forum 13 in Baku, Caliber.Az reports per local media

Ismayilov said the event will be held under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

“Baku Climate Week will take place September 7–11 of this year under the auspices of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change,” the minister stated.

He also noted that Azerbaijan has joined more than 20 international environmental conventions and protocols, highlighting the country’s growing role in global climate initiatives.

Referring to Azerbaijan’s hosting of COP29, Ismayilov said the summit resulted in agreements to launch the Loss and Damage Fund, adopt the Adaptation Roadmap, and establish what he described as the “Baku Financial Goal.”

The first Baku Climate Week was held in 2024, followed by a second edition in 2025. The upcoming event is expected to bring together international policymakers, climate experts, and environmental organisations to discuss global climate challenges and sustainability initiatives.
