Azerbaijan to host meeting of culture ministers as part of COP29
Azerbaijani Minister of Culture Adil Karimli has said that a meeting of cultural ministers will be held as part of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku.
While speaking on "International Cultural Cooperation Prospects", Karimli made these remarks at a meeting of delegation heads during the 10th International United Cultures Forum, titled "Culture of the 21st Century: Sovereignty or Globalism?" in St. Petersburg, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova also spoke at the event. The forum, which features representatives from 80 countries, is led by Azerbaijan’s delegation headed by Minister Adil Karimli. The forum will conclude on September 14. Baku will host the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
A group of Eastern European countries has chosen Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to host COP29 climate talks next year. Earlier, Bulgaria withdrew its candidacy to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in favour of Azerbaijan.
Moreover, Baku and Yerevan agreed to support each other at some international venues. In a joint statement, Armenia said it would support Azerbaijan's bid to host the COP29 summit. The conference is being held in rotation by five UN regional groups, and Eastern Europe will take part next year.
