Azerbaijan transports nearly 21 bcm of gas in first half of 2026

22 July 2026 13:40

Azerbaijan transported 20.79 billion cubic metres (bcm) of natural gas through its main pipelines in the first half of 2026, up 2.6% from the same period a year earlier, according to the State Statistics Committee.

The committee said 55% of the total gas volume was transported via the Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum (South Caucasus) gas pipeline, which carried 11.44 bcm during the January–June period, marking a 1.8% year-on-year increase, Caliber.Az reports.

Meanwhile, crude oil transportation through Azerbaijan's main oil pipelines fell 10.8% year-on-year to 16.52 million tonnes.

Of that total, 12.7 million tonnes, or 76.9%, were transported via the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, down 8.8% from a year earlier.

The committee said 82.3% of the oil transported through the BTC pipeline, or 10.45 million tonnes, was produced in Azerbaijan, while the remaining 17.7%, or 2.25 million tonnes, was imported from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
