On May 17, a high-level Turkish delegation visited the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic as part of its official trip to Azerbaijan, focusing on expanding cooperation in military education and strengthening bilateral defence ties.
The delegation included senior representatives from Türkiye’s National Defence University, as well as personnel from the Air Force and Naval Institutes, along with instructors and participants of the “Staff Command Course.”
According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence, speaking to Caliber.Az, the Turkish guests visited the headquarters of the Separate Combined Arms Army, where they were presented with a comprehensive overview of the army's history, the stages of its development, the reforms currently being implemented, and the challenges ahead.
During the visit, Major General Kanan Seyidov, Commander of the Separate Combined Arms Army, held a meeting with Professor Erhan Afyoncu, Rector of Türkiye’s National Defence University.
Both sides emphasised the significance of enhancing cooperation in the field of military education. They discussed upcoming joint initiatives in this area, as well as other matters of shared interest.
The Turkish delegation also visited two prominent military educational institutions in Nakhchivan—the Nakhchivan Military College and the Heydar Aliyev Military Lyceum. At these institutions, the visitors were briefed on the existing military education framework, the ongoing reforms within the system, and the academic and research directions being pursued.
