Transport association CEO: Azerbaijan, Türkiye key to Middle Corridor success
Azerbaijan and Türkiye carry major responsibilities in the development of the Middle Corridor project, Alper Özel, CEO of the International Transporters Association, said during the 2nd Caspian International Forum on Transport, Transit and Logistics in Baku.
Özel noted that the Middle Corridor is currently one of the most widely discussed topics in global logistics and trade, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“In this sense, transport and trade relations between the European Union and Central Asia are of great importance. Türkiye and Azerbaijan are the most crucial countries in the Middle Corridor. Türkiye is considered the gateway to the European Union, while Azerbaijan is recognized as a key country in the Caspian Sea basin,” the CEO said.
He further emphasized that Azerbaijan plays a slightly more significant role in the corridor compared to Türkiye.
“Because all cargo arrives at the Alat International Sea Trade Port and is consolidated there. Therefore, Azerbaijan's efforts in this matter are very important to us,” he added.
