Azerbaijan, Türkiye strengthen agricultural cooperation

Azerbaijan and Türkiye have signed a Protocol of Intent and Cooperation aimed at deepening bilateral ties in agriculture and seed production as part of a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Agrarian Services Agency Chairman Sardar Hajiyev and Türkiye’s Seed Producers Sub-Union head Miktat Olgun, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Agriculture has stated.

It said the agreement is intended to further strengthen the friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries in the fields of agriculture and seed production, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The sides are also expected to expand the exchange of information, expertise and modern technologies, contribute to the development of human capital in the agricultural sector and enhance long-term technical cooperation.

Under the protocol, Azerbaijan and Türkiye will cooperate in areas including instructor training and farmer education programmes, the development of seed production and certification systems, as well as seed production, processing, storage and logistics.

The agreement also provides for joint initiatives in agricultural mechanisation, precision farming, the adoption of digital and smart agriculture technologies, the promotion of renewable energy solutions, improving sustainability in agriculture, and expanding farmers' knowledge and skills.

Expanding technology transfer, promoting agricultural innovation and exchanging international best practices will also be among the key areas of cooperation.

As part of the partnership, applied training programmes and technical study visits will be organised in Türkiye for Azerbaijani specialists, technical personnel and leading farmers.

The programmes, implemented under Türkiye's Applied Farmer Training Project, will cover seed production, modern agricultural technologies, digital and precision farming, certification systems, efficient use of agricultural machinery and other relevant topics.

Participants will also have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with best practices at agricultural enterprises and research institutes operating in Türkiye's agrarian sector.
