Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan discuss port, transport cooperation Photo
A delegation from Turkmenistan visited the Baku International Sea Port for discussions with Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY), a company under AZCON Holding, the state railway operator, according to ADY.
During the meeting, the Turkmen delegation received detailed information on the operations of the Baku port, including developments following its integration with ADY and its role in facilitating multimodal transport along the Middle Corridor, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Last year, the port handled a record volume of cargo, surpassing 100,000 TEU containers—a milestone attributed to Azerbaijan’s substantial investments in transport infrastructure.
Bilateral discussions focused on potential improvements at Turkmenbashi International Sea Port, including seabed deepening and increased cargo throughput. Both sides also stressed the importance of digital data exchange to enhance coordination between their national railways and international seaports.
The officials highlighted opportunities to expand cooperation in multimodal transport, supporting the development of the Middle Corridor and the broader Eurasian Transport Route, while increasing cargo flow along the East–West–East axis.
