Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan expand strategic partnership
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov hosted a delegation led by Turkmenistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov, underlining the ongoing development of political dialogue between the two nations.
The meeting highlighted efforts to further strengthen the historically friendly and fraternal relationship between Baku and Ashgabat, with both sides emphasizing the importance of high-level visits and sustained bilateral contacts, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
Participants reflected on last year’s reciprocal visits, including Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s trip to Turkmenistan and Turkmen Halk Maslahaty Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s visit to Azerbaijan, noting tangible outcomes achieved during these exchanges.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation across trade and economic sectors, energy, transport and logistics—including Caspian Sea initiatives—as well as in humanitarian and cultural fields. Regional and international issues were also addressed, with both sides stressing the importance of ongoing collaboration through multilateral platforms.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue developing the countries’ traditional fraternal ties through a robust partnership framework.
In parallel, a new round of political consultations between Baku and Ashgabat was held. The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov, while the Turkmen side was headed by Ahmet Gurbanov.
