Azerbaijan, UAE explore expansion of Baku’s transport network
Azerbaijan has held talks with the United Arab Emirates on the potential acquisition of new electric buses to enhance the capital’s transport system.
Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev, shared the update on X, noting that he met with a visiting Emirati delegation led by Mohamed Ali Al-Shorafa, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport.
“The discussions focused on opportunities for cooperation in the development of urban transport. We exchanged views on measures to optimise Baku’s transport system, the possibility of purchasing new electric buses, as well as the establishment of micro-mobility infrastructure and parking facilities,” Nabiyev wrote.
The talks signal growing collaboration between Azerbaijan and the UAE in modernising the city’s transport network and promoting sustainable urban mobility.
